Introduction to Psychology - IIEI-132
Course Description: In this survey course, the science of psychology is explored. Students develop an understanding of the various approaches to psychology, the physical structures of the human brain and their impact on behavior, how people learn and memorize, explores motivation and personality, and culminates with providing a general understanding of psychological disorders. Students learn how psychological research forms the basis for the discipline.

Psychology as a Science
- To know the Contemporary Approaches to Psychology.
- To comprehend what makes psychology a science.
The Biology and Behavior
- To examine the connection between human physiology and behavior.
Human Development
- To be able to identify the key psychological issues that relate to human development.
- To comprehend the importance of child development issues in psychological terms.
- To be able to identify the critical issues of concern to psychologists regarding human development.
Sensation and Perception
- To be able to discuss the impact of a person's perception on understanding.
Learning
- To be able to summarize the various ways in which people learn.
Memory
- To understand how people store and retrieve memories
Thinking, Language and Intelligence
- To be able to discuss the cognitive processes of thinking, language and intelligence and their impact a person perceptions of the world..
Motivation and Emotions
- To identify the various approaches to motivation
- To understand how emotions impact or cognitive processes
Personality
- To have a basic understanding of the theories of personality.
Psychological Disorders
- To gain a basic understanding of psychological disorders and their causes.
