Requirements include:
- 5+ Years of experience with direct ocean freight shipping (3PL, Freight Forwarder, Ocean Line).
- Must understand international shipping documentation (customs, commercial invoicing, tariff documentation, AQSIQ/CCIC, etc.)
- Detail oriented with strong managerial, planning, organization and project management skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and Outlook. Proven analytical skills, proactive and solution oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for arranging export ocean freight transportation
- Seek the most cost effective method of transportation
- Work directly with carriers, steamship lines, transportation providers, to negotiate pricing and secure rates.
- Provide and distribute bookings for shipment
- Book shipments (setting and confirming vessel space, etc.)
- Ability to execute all transportation documentation (scale tickets, bill of lading, duty charges, etc.)Approve all documentation for accounting purposes
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
- Comprehensive understanding of logistics industry, current trends, economics and operating systems.
- Clear understanding and knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing export shipments.
- Interface with customs documentation clearinghouse.
- Interface with Accounting, Sales and Marketing departments.
