Position: Manager, International Trade Compliance

Purpose of Position:

Manage the trade compliance organization on a global basis including responsibilities to implement, coordinate and ensure consistent compliance practices for the businesses.  Participate in trade compliance discussions at the business, group and corporate levels for all world areas.

Major Responsibilities:

- Implement appropriate, consistent, global trade compliance policies, practices and procedures.
- Oversee the implementation, operation and auditing of trade compliance software applications.
- Serve as clearing house and information source for PSS & PWS on trade compliance matters.
- Coordinate global activities to ensure trade compliance in all locations.
- Work closely with group and corporate trade compliance and legal departments.
- Work with company's supply chain organization to ensure maximum leverage with service providers.
- Respond to inquiries on trade compliance matters by government regulators, escalating as appropriate.
- Coordinate and facilitate divisional training activities on trade compliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate with divisional technology teams (hardware and software) to ensure trade compliance matters are addressed early in development.
- Stay up to date on all US laws as well as other countries trade compliance regulations and ensure that policies and procedures are in place to execute within these laws

Knowledge:

International Trade Law, US Customs Law, US Bureaus of Industry and Security Law.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
Seven years directly related experience

Licenses / Certificates Required:

US Customs Brokers License a plus

Problem Solving:

- Understand and keep up-to-date on all domestic and international compliance laws and activities.
- Provide effective support to the global supply chain to meet all customer needs.
- Manage a diverse group of direct and indirect reports who are located at numerous global locations.
- Develop and implement improved processes to meet global business needs.
- Search for and provide creative ways to continually reduce costs.
- Support AR preparation, and relocation and start-up trade compliance questions of all new facilities on a global basis for PSS and PWS.
- Demonstrate proven research and technical skills with U.S. Customs and export control regulations (i.e., CBP and EAR, at a minimum.
- Develop and deliver trade compliance training.
- Must be detail oriented, and posses good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.
- Must be a strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g., contributor, facilitator).
- Self-motivation and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks are critical to job success.
- Provide guidance to technology relating to compliance laws and the impact on software and hardware development.

 

Skills of Persuasion:

- Ability to lead teams and personally negotiate import, export licensing, and other regulatory topics with government agencies.
- Ability to train team members and other groups on trade compliance needs to support improved processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from numerous cultures due to the global scope of this position.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Experience in drafting formal correspondence with government agencies.
- Demonstrate problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with sales, technology, projects and supply chain on trade compliance matters
