ITAR Compliance Officer

Job Description Summary
- Drafts or prepares appropriate documents/licenses and permit applications/proposed agreements for submission to US DoS, DDTC, Department of Commerce or other government agencies.
- Consults with and supports business departments and HR in identifying, planning and delivering export compliance training to all pertinent personnel
- Ensures company compliance with applicable export compliance procedures, company Compliance Manual and company Export Procedures.
- Suggests changes to and implements company compliance program, and revisions and edits to company Compliance Manual and company Export Procedures.
- Receives and responds promptly to challenges associated with the process of obtaining export licenses, technical assistance agreements, import licenses, etc.
- Monitors and helps maintain strict compliance with the regulations and laws of export control as established by US government agencies and other foreign regulations as applicable.
- Attends appropriate export seminars, meetings, conferences and other expor1 compliance educational/training programs offered by the US Government or private industry to remain current in new developments in all areas of export compliance.
- Manages subordinate staff members by prioritizing and assigning work, monitoring performance, providing mentoring and quality control, providing written and oral performance evaluations, and otherwise exhibiting proper leadership.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Educational/Experience Requirements
- BA/BS essential. BA/BS minimum, MA/MS or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years direct ITAR/EAR/ATF experience in related industry or government agency.
- Documented management/supervisory experience, including personnel evaluation, training and direct management of subordinates.
- Outstanding personal skills, including ability to take initiative and ability to properly prioritize diverse needs. Strong project management and conflict resolution skills. Strong planning, organization, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, to include documented experience drafting, writing and revising TAAs, ITAR license applications, and related documents.
- Thorough knowledge of export compliance and applicable regulations, including ITAR, EAR and ATF regulations.
- Working knowledge of US customs laws and procedures.
