TFC Americas has an exciting opportunity for a Trade Compliance Specialist in our Houston, TX location.
The Trade Compliance Specialist will manage and administer the US import/export aspects of the Trade Compliance organization. The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determine requirements of exporting and importing goods and services under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. Customs regulations, and other trade regulations.
- Establish, implement, update and maintain the trade compliance program and related policies and procedures.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are incorporated into local work instructions, and that registration with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls is properly maintained.
- Determine the classification of goods in accordance with the US Munitions List, Commerce Control List, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
- Provide guidance on US import/export regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and monitor the status of license applications, Technical Assistance Agreements, Commodity Jurisdictions, Classification Requests, and other requests for approval to the Office of Defense Trade Controls, U.S. Dept. of State; the Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of Commerce, the Office of Foreign Assets Controls, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
- Monitor shipments against export licenses.
- Manage compliance audits, voluntary disclosures, and investigations.
- Conduct import/export training annually and ensure that training records are properly maintained.
- Conduct annual self-assessments to identify gaps, and identify areas of trade compliance risk.
- Conduct regular testing of procedures to ensure compliance. Develop and maintain metrics to measure compliance performance.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of directly related experience in import/export compliance management.
- Extensive experience in processing export applications and licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements, and other US export authorizations.
- Experience in the selection and use of license exceptions, and development, implementation, and management of a compliance program, including training, policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Proficiency using Windows/Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Some travel (both domestic and international) is required.
