Trade Compliance Manager – Aerospace & Defense
Position Overview
The Trade Compliance Manager has global responsibility to ensure all trade agreements are complied with for the Tyco Electronics Aerospace & Defense business unit. Individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance throughout the organization with all International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administrative Guidelines. Position may be located in Harrisburg, PA or Menlo Park, CA.
- Review export license and agreement applications to ensure releasability of technology and compliance with all U.S. and international export laws, policies, and regulations.
- Knowledge of export requirements / restrictions in the U.K. and in China.
- Review all new business opportunities and contracts to determine if agreements are required.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations.
- Substantial interaction with Aerospace & Defense Program Managers, Contracts Managers, Marketing, Engineering and Finance personnel.
- Assists with the development of licensing strategies for major international programs.
- Ensure that administrative and regulatory requirements related to export licensing and compliance are met.
- Audit programs for export compliance.
- Conduct training and develop focus training for programs and/or functions.
- Manage relationship with the Department of Defense, Office of Trade Compliance and participate in any government audits or focused assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Applicants must possess a working knowledge of U.S. government export control organizations (Department of State, Defense, Commerce, Transportation, and Customs Service) and processes as well as U.S. laws, policies, regulations, and procedures relating to exports and imports of military, dual-use and commercial items.
- Prefer minimum five (5) years experience in a defense-related (ITAR) field.
- USG experience highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments regarding the interpretation and application of U.S. export regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Team player with the ability to work independently while meeting strict deadlines. Ability to process a high volume of work.
- Ability to travel, sometimes internationally.
- U.S. citizenship required.
