Project Leader - International Trade Compliance
Job Description
- Provide advice, counsel and training to GE business leaders in the
development and implementation of policies and procedures related to
international trade agreements, trade legislation, US Customs
regulations, Export Administration and International Traffic in Arms
Regulations, Office of Foreign Assets Controls, Antiboycott and other
government agency requirements.
- Obtain licenses on behalf of GE from appropriate United States
Government regulatory agencies, including Departments of State and
Commerce.
- Provide advice, counsel and training to business leaders regarding
compliance with international trade regulations and laws, including
applicable licenses and export agreements.
- Serve as an Empowered Official pursuant to the International Traffic
in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Participate as member of business' International Trade Compliance
team, having authority for export compliance policy and procedural
implementation across GE.
- Prepare, submit and manage technical data/hardware licenses, Technical
Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing Licensing Agreements, and similar
export documentation and authorizations to appropriate export
authorities.
- Audit the business, affiliates, and freight forwarders for compliance
to export procedures/policies, develop corrective action plans to
correct deficiencies and/or add new controls for meeting regulatory
changes.
- Monitor and analyze legal changes affecting export requirements and
adjust business practices as appropriate.
- Work cooperatively with technical personnel to establish proper export
jurisdiction and classifications in accordance with Export Regulations
(Export Administration Regulations, International Traffic in Arms
Regulations) for the business and affiliate company commodities,
technical data and software.
Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college
- At least 5 additional years of experience with major defense exporter,
US export regulatory agency or export consulting firm
- At least 2 years of experience in International Trade Compliance,
including experience with United States Departments of State, Commerce,
and Treasury (international licensing agencies)
